Abstract(s)
Understand that the multidimensionality of attitudes towards interactions between different generations is assumed to be essential to intergenerational cooperation and understanding, as well as to the reduction of stereotypes and prejudices. The main objective of this study is to understand the Attitudes of Children and Young People as well as Older adults and Professionals in relation to Intergenerational Exchanges. At first, this project lacked a preliminary study, which consisted in the process of cross-cultural validation of the Attitudes Scale in relation to Intergenerational Exchanges. Keeping its original psychometric properties, this adaptation of an instrument presupposes the combination of two interrelated stages: (i) the translation of the instrument and (ii) its cultural adaptation (conceptual and linguistic equivalences) and the verification of the psychometric properties of the new instrument, and the establishment of normative values for the new version. In a second moment, a project proposal is presented that allows to explore the change of attitudes towards the intergenerational exchanges. Hoping to find more positive attitudes towards Intergenerational exchanges associated with higher scores in the above mentioned Scale. Taking into account that the Intergenerational Exchange Attitudes Scale it’s a useful tool to evaluate the impact of changing attitudes among children and young adults and older adults, as well as for professionals who develop Intergenerational actions, in a third moment a proposal is made for the use of this instrument among children and young people at risk
