Abstract(s)
Educação Pré-Escolar e Ensino do 1.º Ciclo do Ensino Básico.
This research report comes under the Course of Supervised Teaching Practice (STP, from “Prática de Ensino Supervisionada”, course name in Portuguese), part of the Master's Degree in Preschool Education and Teaching in the 1st Cycle of Basic Education. This report is divided into two parts. The first is an analysis and reflection on the practices experienced in PES II and III, in the context of 1st Cycle of Basic Education and Preschool Education, correspondingly. The second part concerns the research conducted on the subject of this report: "Effectiveness of different strategies in teaching of vocabulary in Portuguese as a Foreign Language in Preschool Education". This the second part includes the framework of the study, the literature review on the relevant topics, the methodology, as well as the description and discussion of the data collected. The collection of data for this study was carried out in a preschool in the urban area of Viseu. It consisted of two strategies with a three-year-old child to observe which one was the most effective in the teaching of vocabulary to children using Portuguese as a Second Language. This study contributed to improve my critical and reflective capacity, and this is a fundamental component to a professional in the field of education. In addition, it was possible to develop skills related to research, which should always accompany a teacher/educator.
