Abstract(s)
Introdução: O conceito de Empowerment na Enfermagem, tem sido cada vez mais utilizado e analisado na literatura académica. Torna-se um conceito merecedor de exploração e de particular interesse para os Enfermeiros, chefes, e gestores das organizações de saúde. É um produto emergente das interações entre os fatores individuais, e fatores laborais. Destaca-se a importância da perceção dos Enfermeiros acerca do Empowerment numa organização de saúde, tornando-se determinante nos resultados organizacionais, traduzindo-se em maior produtividade e fator motivador e nos Enfermeiros com aumento da competência, autonomia, no ganho do poder individual e coletivo, e nos cuidados prestados.
Objetivos: Avaliar a perceção manifestada pelos Enfermeiros acerca do Empowerment (Psicológico e Estrutural); Identificar os factores que influenciam essa perceção e analisar e refletir sobre as consequências dessa perceção.
Metodologia: Este estudo suporta-se numa metodologia quantitativa, traduzida pela aplicação de questionários. Estes, foram respondidos por Enfermeiros a exercerem funções nos diversos serviços do Hospital Sousa Martins da ULS-Guarda, EPE.
Resultados: A amostra de 269 Enfermeiros, é predominantemente do sexo feminino com 76,6%, a faixa etária varia dos 21 aos 59 anos, com idade média de 40.36 anos, 68,8% são Licenciados, 16% Pós-Graduados e 14,5% Mestres. 26,4% são Especialistas. O tempo médio de exercicio profissional dos participantes foi de 17.07 anos, sendo no atual serviço de 9.62 anos. Nos Enfermeiros, a perceção de Empowerment Psicológico está relacionada com a perceção de Empowerment Estrutural. Enfermeiros com mais idade e maior tempo de exercicio profissional revelaram maior Empowerment Psicológico (Competência) e menor Empowerment Estrutural (Oportunidade). Enfermeiros com maior tempo no atual serviço, têm maior Empowerment Psicológico (Competência), e menor Empowerment Estrutural (Oportunidade, Informação, Apoio). Na categoria profissional os Enfermeiros Especialistas revelaram maior Empowerment Estrutural (Poder informal, Informação, e Recursos).
Conclusão: Os Enfermeiros revelaram bons níveis de Empowerment Psicológico e baixos níveis de Empowerment Estrutural. Os que evidenciam níveis mais elevados de Empowerment Psicológico, evidenciam niveis mais elevados de Empowerment Estrutural. Enfermeiros com mais idade e maior tempo de exercício profissional revelam maior competência e menor oportunidade. Enfermeiros com maior tempo no atual serviço apresentam maior competência e menor acesso a oportunidades, informação e apoio pela organização de saúde.Enfermeiros Especialistas apresentam níveis mais elevados de poder informal, informação e recursos relativamente aos restantes Enfermeiros (generalistas).

ABSTRACT Introduction: The concept of Empowerment in nursing, has been increasingly used and analyzed in academic literature. It is a concept worthy of exploration and of particular interest to nurses, leaders, and managers of healthcare organizations. It is an emergent product of the interactions between individual factors, and work factors. It is emphasized the importance of the perception of nurses about the Empowerment a health organization, becoming determinant in organizational results, translating into higher productivity and motivating factor and nurses with increased competence, autonomy, gain individual power and collective, and the care provided. Objectives: Evaluate the perception expressed by nurses about the Empowerment (psychological and structural); Identify the factors that influence this perception and analyze and reflect on the consequences of this perception. Methodology: This study supports a quantitative methodology, translated by the questionnaires. The questionnaires were answered by nurses in professional practice, in all departments of the Hospital Sousa Martins da ULS-Guarda, EPE. Results: The sample of 269 nurses, is predominantly female with 76.6%, the age range is from 21 to 59 years, with mean age of 40.36 years, 68.8% are graduates, 16% Post-graduates studies and 14.5 % Masters studies. 26.4% are Experts nurses. The average time of professional exercise of participants was 17.7 years, and 9.62 years at the current department. The perception in nurses of psychological empowerment is related to the perception of Structural Empowerment. Older nurses and largest professional exercise time showed greater psychological empowerment (Competence) and lower Structural Empowerment (Opportunity). Largest time nurses in the current service, have greater psychological empowerment (Competence), and lower Structural Empowerment (Opportunity, Information, Support). In the professional category Experts Nurses showed greater Structural Empowerment (Informal Power, Information, and Resources). Conclusion: Nurses showed good levels of Psychological Empowerment and low levels of Structural Empowerment. Nurses that show higher levels of Psychological Empowerment, show higher levels of Structural Empowerment. Older nurses and largest professional exercise time, show greater competence and fewer opportunities. Largest time nurses in the current department confirmed greater competence and less access to opportunities, information and support by the health organization.
