Abstract(s)
desempenho.
a diminuir.
ABSTRACT: In research carried out around the generational effect, analyses of problems caused by the divergence of interests between generations have gained relevance. When the nature of the principal owner is an individual or a family group, the empirical evidence continues to show difficulties in assessing the impact of this performance. The specificity of these companies, the level of information asymmetry, the divergence of interests in the relations established between the different participants and the weight they play within the business sector, gives them an important role. This study aims to understand how the generation affects the profitability of family businesses. The research focuses on a set of Portuguese family business based in Viseu region. The results suggest that the company "did not micro" (with more than five employees), the management practiced by the founding owners is a source of increased profitability, compared to the other generations. It was also found that the internal property, has significant influence on the profitability of companies that are in the first generation and it was observed that as this increases the profitability tends to decrease.
