Abstract(s)
This study aims to explore professionals' perceptions of the importance and ben-efits of music in interventions for children and young people with Autism Spectrum Dis-order (ASD). Music therapy stimulates communicative and/or social skills and promotes the reduction of stereotyped behaviors. Individuals with ASD show a particular interest in music, which significantly contributes to the success of interventions. This study is based on a quantitative methodology, using a questionnaire survey to collect data from 106 professionals. The results show that the majority of professionals agree that music has a positive impact on the overall well-being of children and young people with ASD. Furthermore, participants highlighted the effectiveness of music in reducing stereotyped and aggressive behaviors, as well as in increasing communication and socialization abil-ities. The findings suggest that, from the professionals' perspective, music can be used as an important complementary tool to improve the quality of life of children and young people with ASD, provided it is adapted to their individual needs.
