Objetivo: Evidenciar as competências especializadas adquiridas.

Abstract Introduction: The development of technical, scientific and relational skills in the provision of nursing care to the client and family experiencing processes of critical illness and organ failure is fundamental, and it is important to combine the realisation of internships in emergency and intensive care with the development of research on practice, in order to produce evidence to support nursing interventions. Objective: To highlight the specialised skills acquired. To highlight the importance of the preoperative nursing visit in the client undergoing elective surgery. Methods: The methodology used to realise this document is descriptive and analytical. Part I is a reflection on the common and specific competences of medical-surgical nursing acquired in the above-mentioned internships. Part II is presented in the form of an article, a scoping review - importance of the preoperative nursing visit to the client undergoing elective surgery. Results: This is a document that aims to systematise, organise and interpret the learning acquired. The research carried out allowed me to develop knowledge that I intend to implement in my service, as the evidence found demonstrates the importance of its implementation, translating into more favourable results for the client in the intra and postoperative period. Conclusion: During the internships, the objectives and skills in specialised practice in the area of CME were achieved. The learning and reflections obtained allowed changes in attitude, behaviour and the ability to respond more effectively to problems in professional and personal practice. The research competences acquired have allowed us to infer that the client has access to a consultation in which he can express his concerns and uncertainties about the clinical diagnosis, the details and the duration of the hospitalisation. In this sense, it is important that the Nurse Specialising in Medical-Surgical Nursing takes over the management of care, to reassure and reduce their concerns. Key words: Preoperative, Elective surgery, Nursing.
