Potencialidades do Turismo Militar: Roteiro da Memória Militar de Viseu

O produto que se pretende analisar, o Turismo Militar, é uma tipologia de turismo, que alberga em si, uma relação de natureza cultural e que procura valorizar, preservar e dar a conhecer espaços ligados à história e à herança militar de um território. O foco deste projeto é compreender as potencialidades do Turismo Militar em Portugal e
avaliar a pertinência da criação de um roteiro militar para a cidade de Viseu. Percebe-se a importância da análise desta temática pela necessidade de entender a relevância da
utilização dos recursos militares existentes integrados em produtos que possam complementar a oferta dos locais.
Na presente investigação, efetuou-se um estudo conceptual de revisão de literatura contribuindo desta forma para uma maior compreensão e contextualização deste produto.
Paralelamente, utilizou-se uma metodologia qualitativa assente em entrevistas semiestruturadas, tendo sido realizadas catorze entrevistas a responsáveis de entidades,
instituições e empresas que dinamizam e promovem o Turismo Militar em Portugal.
Os resultados obtidos permitem afirmar que este produto, ainda não está suficientemente estabelecido em Portugal. Porém, existem, recursos militares muito relevantes em todo o território, o que denota um grande potencial de crescimento para este segmento. No caso concreto da cidade de Viseu, o levantamento minucioso do património histórico militar da cidade, sustentado pela auscultação de entidades do setor público e privado, permitiu identificar e valorizar um conjunto significativo de recursos com potencial turístico e cultural. Com base neste trabalho, a autora apresentou uma proposta de roteiro, que se materializa na definição de um produto distintivo e diferenciador, que pode
contribuir para a diversificação da oferta turística local e para a valorização do seu património de índole militar e da sua identidade territorial.
A replicação desta investigação e o levantamento de recursos militares noutras regiões poderiam sustentar a criação de um Roteiro Militar completo em todo o país, promovendo
a preservação do património, o interesse pela história militar e o fortalecimento da identidade cultural dos territórios.
The subject of this research, Military Tourism, is a type of tourism that embodies a cultural dimension and intends to preserve, promote and raise awareness of places connected to history and military legacy of a certain territory. This study focusses on understanding the potential of Military Tourism in Portugal and assessing the relevance of creating a military itinerary for the city of Viseu. The importance of analyzing this topic is justified by the need to understand the relevance of integrating existing military resources into products that can complement and enrich the local offer. In this research, a conceptual study and literature were implemented, contributing to a deeper understanding and contextualization of the product itself. In parallel, it was employed a qualitative methodology based on semi-structured interviews, undertaking fourteen interviews with representatives of organizations, institutions and companies that work on the development and promotion of Military Tourism in Portugal. The results indicate that this product is not yet fully established in Portugal. However, there are significant military resources distributed throughout the territory, which shows great potential for growth in this segment. For the city of Viseu, the detailed survey of its historical and military heritage, supported by consultations with public and private entities, allowed the identification and valorization of a significant set of resources with both cultural and touristic potential. Based on this work, the author proposed an itinerary that results in a distinctive and differentiating product, capable of contributing to the local touristic offer and promoting its military heritage and territorial identity. Mapping military resources and extending this research to other regions could support the development of a complete Military Itinerary across the country, promoting and preserving heritage, stimulating the interest in military history and strengthening the cultural identity of multiple territories.
