Abstract(s)
dificultar a coparentalidade.
instrumento construído revelou características psicométricas adequadas. Espera-se com a
concretização do projeto de investigação poder acrescentar contributos para a
compreensão da Alienação Parental no nosso país.
Parent’s difficulty in the exercise of their parental skills and also the growing number of divorces in Western countries promoted new challenges and problems that may threat coparenting. These changes also reinforce what literature identifies as Parental Alienation, that is when a parent through manipulative strategies destroys the image of the other, excluding him/her from their child´s life and breaking the bond between both, which constitutes a risk situation for children/youngsters (Fonseca, 2006). This research project aims to contribute to the understanding of Parental Alienation through an exploratory study on co-parenting in divorced, separated and in divorce process parents, when compared to married or living together couples. It was used a battery of instruments, including a Family and Sociodemographic Questionnaire, the Co-parenting Questionnaire (Pedro & Ribeiro, 2008), adapted to Portuguese population and finally a Questionnaire of Parental Alienation constructed for this study. After descriptive and inferential (p≤.05) data analysis (non parametric tests), with a sample of 132 participants, statistically significant differences were found between the two groups on the dimensions of co-parenting and in Parental Alienation (correlated variables in this study). Other aspects were relevant in this subject, specially the perception of conflict in the relationship and formal support. The questionnaire proposed revealed good psychometric characteristics. It is hoped that the implementation of the research project could add contributions to the understanding of Parental Alienation in our country.
