Abstract(s)
In today's society, the characteristics and role of grandparents in the family are different from other times. They are younger grandparents, tend to take care of themselves and keep up to date, keeping up with their grandchildren's generation rather than identifying a significant lifestyle and cultural difference. Society has led to a significant increase in the conditions for active and dynamic aging. They are also grandparents whose quality of life gives them opportunities to live longer, also because of advances in medicine. At the family level, grandparents have always been considered as pillars of the needs required by the family, helping and sometimes replacing the main functions of the parents in the lives of their grandchildren. The role of grandparents in children's lives was the guiding theme of this final internship report which covers the supervised teaching practices carried out in pre-school and elementary school contexts and a study developed on the theme of the representation of grandparents in Literature for Children. This study aims to contribute to the knowledge of how grandparents are represented in Children's Literature books, through a careful analysis of characteristic aspects of grandparents and intergenerational relationships. The potential of Children's Literature books as a support for activities about grandparents with pre-school children is also discussed.
