Abstract(s)
frequentam o 10Âș ano. Mais de metade vive com os pais (56.0%). A grande maioria Ă©
As estratĂ©gias do conflito do outro

Objective - We intend to identify the factors that influence dating violence among students who attend secondary school; determine its prevalence and analyze the effect of contextual variables to dating in the development of violence. Material and Methods - We opted for a quantitative non-experimental, cross-sectional, descriptive and correlational study. We applied a protocol of questionnaires consisting of socio-demographic and contextual characterization of dating, Inventory of Conflict in Dating Relationships among Teenagers and a Scale of Attitudes about Dating Violence to 243 adolescents attending the 10th, 11th and 12th years. Results - Teens aged over 17 years (40.7%), with a predominance of girls (44.1%). Inhabit mainly in rural areas and are mostly Portuguese, with a prevalence of attending the 10th grade. More than half live with their parents (56.0%). The vast majority was Catholic. Almost all participants are dating or have dated. There are statistically significant differences in all kinds of violence, especially among students who had sexual intercourse. The source of information about sexuality influenced some dimensions of violence having been seconded by male sexual violence. Has to the different forms of violence by boys and girls, the minimum values were for physical and sexual abuse, while the maximum stood at psychological violence. The strategies of the conflict on the other overlapped those of himself. Non-abusive strategies of self revealed a higher average rate when compared with non-abusive strategies of the other Conclusion - The results point to the need to integrate the topic of dating violence in the education / training of adolescents, using active methods with the effective participation of all stakeholders in the process (teens, parents, teachers and health professionals), because only thus will we be able to develop healthy emotional relationship skills.
