Abstract(s)
A OMS e a DGS implementaram medidas
desempenho do Papel Parental a nível hospitalar.

Abstract Context: In 2020, the WHO declared a Public Health Emergency of international scope due to the emergence of a new virus called SARS-COV2, later declaring a pandemic situation due to the high power of contagion and consequent intercontinental spread. WHO and DGS implemented restrictive measures to reduce infection rates, especially challenging for families, causing profound changes in their daily lives. In parallel with this situation, the care needs of the pediatric population remained, and hospitalized children and their families faced different conditions from those offered until then, namely those related to the monitoring and performance of the Parental Role at the hospital level. Objectives: To determine the impact of the pandemic on the exercise of parenting during the child's hospitalization. Methods: This is a qualitative, exploratory-descriptive study, with data collection carried out through semi-structured interviews and audio recording. Data collection took place in three inpatient services of a pediatric hospital, involving 8 mothers who accompanied their hospitalized children. The content analysis was based on the assumptions suggested by Bardin (2014) and using the Nvivo® software. The study was approved by the Ethics Committee of the Hospital Center where it took place. Results: The pandemic had an impact on the exercise of parenting during the child's hospitalization. The difficulties mentioned refer to the affective lack due to the absence of the father, the lack of rest and the change in family management. Of the 8 mothers interviewed, 6 needed family and professional adaptations, having as a resource the support of the father and the extended family. Nurses were instrumental in minimizing this impact, through psychological support to the child/mother binomial and in concrete actions, such as providing family care in the absence of the mother, as well as supporting the mother in providing care/treatment to the child, interventions that enabled mothers to meet some of their basic parenting needs and illustrate an effective care partnership in care practice. Conclusions: The interviews carried out reflect the challenges and difficulties experienced by mothers during the hospitalization of their children in the context of a pandemic, both in terms of their needs and in terms of their parental role. The study creates an opportunity for future investigations in this area, with the objective of minimizing the impact of situations with similar repercussions, in the exercise of the parental role during the child's hospitalization.
