Abstract(s)
A recente
Suportada no

Abstract Framework: Type 2 Diabetes is a serious public health problem and it is the main cause of premature morbidity and mortality and disability-adjusted life years, imposing new organizational and professional behavior challenges. The recent Integrated Diabetes Unit of Centro Hospitalar Universitário Cova da Beira has the imperative need of quality health interventions, through teaching on the prevention of complications/adherence to treatment, adjusting to the level of literacy of the people assisted. Objectives: Assess the level of health literacy in people with type 2 diabetes. Methods: Through the reflective practice of the Master's degree, a reality was identified that appears like a problem that can be solved - the lack of scientific information about the literacy level in the Integrated Diabetes Unit of Centro Hospitalar Universitário Cova da Beira (CHUCB). Thus, it proposes to analyze this lack under an approach that fits into the Project Work Methodology, developing a Research Project. It is planned to develop a quantitative study, with a descriptive nature in the form of a Case Study. People with type 2 diabetes (assisted in the Integrated Diabetes Unit of CHUCB) will be surveyed using a Structured Questionnaire and the Diabetes Knowledge Questionnaire (DKQ-24) and Diabetes Self-Care Activities Scales. Results: An Intervention Project and a Research Project were structured to improve the area of quality in health, to increase health literacy in people with type 2 diabetes, which allows reducing the impact of this pathology. Conclusion: The scientific research carried out and the analysis of professionals in the clinical context verify the need assess to the level of health literacy. Supported by the processing of the information collected, the multidisciplinary team of the Integrated Diabetes Unit of CHUCB will know how to optimize and enhance quality interventions and also how to ensure the improvement of the art of caring for the people registered in their consultations. Keywords: Health Literacy; Diabetes; Type 2 Diabetes
