A Urgência Pediátrica do Centro Hospitalar de Viseu, desde 1 de Setembro de 2009
que alargou a idade de atendimento dos adolescentes para os 18 anos. Esta ampliação da
idade de atendimento, à semelhança de outras unidades de pediatria nacionais, originou
inadequações e inadaptações, quer estruturais quer em termos de recursos humanos,
concretamente na organização e prestação de cuidados de Enfermagem. São objectvos
deste estudo analisar a percepção que os adolescentes têm da equipa de enfermagem da
urgência pediátrica do Centro Hospitalar Tondela Viseu EPE, no sentido de promover a
adequação da intervenção desta a este grupo etário. Trata-se de um estudo qualitativo,
exploratório - descritivo. Os dados foram recolhidos através de uma entrevista semi -
estruturada, aplicada a todos os adolescentes com 16 e 17 anos de idade, que recorreram
ao serviço de Urgência Pediátrica do Centro Hospitalar Tondela Viseu no período de 25 a 27
de Agosto de 2011. Os entrevistados reconhecem a necessidade de uma assistência
diferenciada aos adolescentes por parte dos enfermeiros, generalizam as suas funções,
apontando como principal função dos enfermeiros a ajuda ao médico, referem que os
enfermeiros os acompanham contínua e directamente não os diferenciaram de outros
técnicos. No que concerne aos cuidados prestados pelos enfermeiros, relatam que estes
executam cuidados técnicos e referem nunca lhes ter sido solicitado o consentimento
informado escrito e esporadicamente o oral. Emerge também neste estudo a necessidade
que os enfermeiros demonstrem não apenas o aperfeiçoamento técnico e científico, como
também uma atitude humana e sensibilidade ao actuar com estes adolescentes.

ABSTRAT The Pediatric Emergency of the Tondela Viseu Hospital Center, since September 1, 2009 that extended the age of care for adolescents to 18 years. This extension of service age, like other national pediatric units, led to inadequacies and inadaptations, both structural and in terms of human resources, specifically in the organization and delivery of nursing care. The objectives of this study is to analyze the perception that adolescents have about the pediatric emergency nursing Hospital Center Tondela Viseu EPE, in order to promote the appropriateness of this intervention in this age group. It is a qualitative study and exploratory -descriptive. The data were collected through a semi-structured interview, applied to all teenagers aged 16 to 17 years old, who turned to the service of the Pediatric Emergency Center Hospital in Viseu Tondela in the period of 25 to 27 August 2011. The respondents recognize the need for a differentiated assistance to adolescents from nurses; generalize their duties, citing as main function the help of nurses to doctors, they reported that nurses do the monitor continuously and directly, they did not differentiate nurses from other technicians. Regarding the care provided by nurses they report that they perform technical care and refer them to have never been asked for written informed consent and occasionally oral. Also emerges in this study that nurses need to demonstrate not only the improvement of technical and scientific, as well as a human attitude and act with sensitivity to these teenagers.
