Abstract(s)

Applications have been launched by the High Commissioner for Migration, and the Municipality of Abrantes had the application approved in September 2011 and integrated the Municipal Mediator in the Division of Knowledge and Community Intervention. Was implemented in the municipality of Abrantes on October 1, 2011 with its expiration on September 30, 2014. Through the work done in this time period, it was extended to June 30, 2015 with implementation of Phase II of the project - Program Romed 2. With the development of this project, where the mediator has assumed an important role, our aim was to contribute to the process of empowerment of Roma and majority communities, including through a better understanding of cultural and social diversity, resulting in a better knowledge of their culture and experience. We assumed an intervention of proximity with professionals and institutions/organizations working in various social areas, to encourage the implementation of more inclusive initiatives, promoting equal opportunities for all the citizens.
