Abstract(s)
Era 4.0 is based on digital transformation and associated technologies. This is a reality for several sectors, including agriculture, and globally, where the European Union is no exception. This new wave calls for specific assessments to understand the new trends over different sectors and economies and to identify constraints concerning digital implementation. In this framework, the main objective of this research is to analyse the digital context in European Union countries. In this way, data from the Eurostat database were considered for the digital economy and society dimensions. Considering the importance of human capital for digital reform, statistical information related to Information and Communications Technology (ICT) specialists was included. This statistical information was first analysed through descriptive approaches and later assessed using methodologies associated with panel data regressions. The intention is to investigate the interrelationships between the digital economy and society indicators and agricultural socioeconomic variables in the European Union member states. The results highlight that digital transformation in the European Union is a reality, however, it is running at different speeds, and there are still existing challenges to overcome.
