Um olhar sobre os jovens NEET: Investigação-ação com jovens provenientes de um bairro social

| dc.description.abstract | Uma intervenção de cariz social para ser implementada de forma adequada, pressupõe o conhecimento de determinada realidade, nomeadamente necessidades e problemas, mas também meios e recursos disponíveis. O objetivo da intervenção realizada, no âmbito do Estágio desenvolvido, foi conhecer os jovens do Bairro Social de Paradinha, na Freguesia de Repeses e São Salvador, em Viseu, mais especificamente, o que os leva a uma maior probabilidade de se tornarem NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training), bem como intervir nesse âmbito de forma a prevenir este fenómeno. Participaram na intervenção 12 jovens, com idades compreendidas entre os 17 e 27 anos, que apresentassem uma maior probabilidade de se tornarem NEET, sendo 9 de etnia cigana. Para a recolha e análise de dados foram utilizadas como técnicas e procedimentos: a entrevista, com a respetiva análise de conteúdo; a observação participante; e, ainda, questionários com itens avaliados em escalas de Likert, cujos dados foram alvo de análise descritiva e inferencial (Wilcoxon). Os resultados evidenciaram que os jovens apresentam escassos objetivos de vida; alguns encontram-se desempregados salientando que por vontade própria; revelam dificuldades no cumprimento de regras e horários; referem que não gostam de trabalhar e estudar; dependem de apoios sociais; consideram que a cultura e contexto em que se inserem influencia no ingresso no mercado de trabalho; não apresentam expectativas futuras e encontram-se mais propensos à pobreza e exclusão social. Concluímos que para prevenir que os jovens se tornem NEET, é fundamental dar-lhes voz, perceber as suas fraquezas, mas também as potencialidades e interesses, e encorajá-los na criação de objetivos futuros realistas. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | A social intervention, in order to be implemented adequately, presupposes the knowledge of a given reality, namely needs and problems, but also means and resources available. The objective of the intervention carried out, within the scope of the Internship developed, was to get to know young people from the Bairro Social de Paradinha, in Repeses and São Salvador, Viseu, more specifically, which leads them to a greater probability of becoming NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training), as well as intervening in this context to prevent this phenomenon. In the intervention participated 12 young people, aged between 17 and 27, who were more likely to become NEET, 9 of whom were of gypsy ethnicity. For data collection and analysis, the following techniques and procedures were used: the interview, with the respective content analysis; participant observation; and, also, questionnaires with items evaluated on Likert scales, whose data were subject to descriptive and inferential analysis (Wilcoxon). The results showed that young people have few goals in life; some find themselves unemployed, stressing that of their own volition; reveal difficulties in complying with rules and schedules; report that they do not like to work and study; depend on social support; consider that the culture and context in which they are inserted influences their entry into the labour market; they have no future expectations and are more prone to poverty and social exclusion. We conclude that to prevent young people from becoming NEET, it is essential to give them a voice, understand their weaknesses, but also their potential and interests, and encourage them to create realistic future goals. | pt_PT |
