Abstract(s)
Neste projeto artístico trabalhamos sobre a questão do abandono e a sua ligação à memória. O aumento de edifícios industriais abandonados, que se tornam em lugares esquecidos, levou-nos a explorar o tema, com o intuito de os revalorizar e não deixar cair no esquecimento. A oscilação existente entre estes lugares e a sua memória incita-nos a refletir sobre este processo, que resulta de escolhas feitas pelo homem, nomeadamente, em lugares que serviram a comunidade durante muito tempo.
A fotografia, como meio de expressão, apresenta-se num conceito simples, sem eufemismo, mas carregada de significados. É na simplicidade que se encontra a mais profunda sabedoria. Assim, propomo-nos criar um equilíbrio entre o conceito, a estética e o significado. Para além de ser um projeto conceptual, pretende ser informativo, prender a atenção, deixando transparecer um passado com relevância imediata para o presente e encorajar a pensar no futuro. Trabalhar no lugar permitiu criar atmosferas, incluir meios para contemplar uma experiência tridimensional, conferir vida às fotografias e ao lugar.
Este trabalho teve como ponto de partida alguns conceitos e influências artísticas que, cruzados com o imprevisto e a intuição, próprios de uma metodologia baseada nas artes, resultaram numa criação original.
Este projeto pretende pavimentar o caminho para uma mudança destes lugares condenados e contribuir para o alargamento da memória, enquanto selo identitário de uma comunidade.
In this artistic project we focus on the issue of abandonment and its connection to memory. The increase of abandoned industrial buildings, which became forgotten places, made us exploit the theme with the intention of revaluing and not leave them falling by the wayside. The oscillation among these places, as well as their memory, incite us to reflect about this process, which results from choices made by man, namely, in places which served the community for a long period. Photography, as a mean of expression, presents itself in a simple concept, without euphemism, yet full of meanings. It’s on simplicity that the most profound wisdom can be found. Therefore, we propose the creation of a balance between concept and aesthetic, and meaning too. Besides being a conceptual project, it intends to be informative, catch the attention and make the past visible with immediate relevance to the present and encourage a thought about the future. Work in the place, allowed to create atmospheres, include means to contemplate a three dimensional experience, give life to photos and to the place. This work had its base on some artistic concepts and influences which, combined with the unexpected and intuition, typical of a methodology based on arts, resulted on an original creation. This project intends to pave the path to the change of these condemned places and contribute to the enlargement of memory, as the representative seal of a community.
