Abstract(s)
implementada no local.
ABSTRACT: This project is part of the master’s program in Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Management at the Viseu School of Technology and Management (ESTGV) of the Polytechnic Institute of Viseu (IPV), as the final work leading to a master’s degree. This project was developed in partnership with the UDACA wine cooperative, which bottles and sells wines from the Dão region on the national and international markets. The objectives defined for the project were underpinned by the Lean production philosophy and included identifying and implementing improvements in the cooperative's production center, which were defined in conjunction with the cooperative's production and administration managers. The project began with an analysis of the bottling line's production flow, through which it was possible to diagnose that the corking workstation was responsible for the line's low productivity. Once this was identified as the bottleneck, studies were carried out into a new corking station that would increase production capacity. In order to increase the level of automation in the initial phase of the bottling line, it was also suggested that a prototype be created for filling bottles. During the development of the prototype, studies were carried out into existing solutions on the market and economic viability so that the solution found could be implemented on site. However, it wasn't possible to complete all the functions initially planned for the automated bottle filling station on the line. These limitations arose either because of a lack of financial resources, or because of the limitations of the software resources available in the student version used, or because of time constraints in connecting and acquiring compressed air distribution equipment, despite the efforts made. Through the implementation of the suggested improvements and with the implementation of a real system at scale, with characteristics analogous to those of the prototype built, it was possible to reduce the delivery time of the final product to the customer. This improvement in bottling capacity is due to the automation of the filling process to the bottling line and the reduction of the cycle time of the filling lines.
