Abstract(s)
Child poverty denies access to the resources necessary for the survival of minors, preventing them from enjoying all their rights, from fulfilling their full potential and, furthermore, from actively participating in the society in which they are inserted. Since this deprivation, material and/or social, constitutes an attack on the rights of children and young people, the fight against child poverty must be strictly linked to the defense of their full development and the safeguarding of their basic rights. With that in mind, this Internship Report describes the project implemented at EAPN Portugal's District Center of Viseu, whose main objective was to contribute to a greater awareness of the phenomenon of poverty and social exclusion in the context of children and adolescents. In this sense, the project was based on six main axes of intervention, namely, collaboration in the preparation of the PLPPDCJ, within the scope of the Adélia Project; involvement in the Campaign “Strip Prejudices, Dress Up Inclusion”; participation in the “Thematic Cycle on Gypsy Communities”; support for the “Schools Against Poverty” initiative; the implementation of a photovoice project on “Family and its challenges” and, finally, participation in practical and knowledge workshops, training actions and member meetings. That said, this document integrates the entire intervention process, from the diagnosis to the project results, identifying the potentialities and difficulties experienced during the project, as well as the pertinence of psychosocial intervention with children and young people at risk in the listed area.
