Abstract(s)
A metodologia lean começou a
ABSTRACT: The evolution of the industry over the last century has now made possible to deliver products with better quality and reduced prices to the costumer. These results were achieved with the implementation of lean tools, which have as main objective the elimination of waste along the production flow. The lean methodology started to be developed at the beginning of the 20th century, however it was at the end of the second world war that Toyota engineers started to implement this tool in the industry, knowing a priori, that they needed to optimize their processes to gain competitive advantage in the face of competition. Since then, lean has been implemented in companies, whether industrial or commercial, as a way to ensure that the final costs of the product or service provide are reduced, ensuring the level of quality. The main objective of this dissertation was to reduce the number of deformations found in the polyurethane foams of Renault’s Mégane model car seats. To achieve the objective, the DMAIC methodology was used, which is one of the lean tools and which consists of a five-step cyclical process: defining, measuring, analyzing, improving and controlling. This methodology was selected because as it is cyclical it allows that if something during the process is not following the established procedure, that is, that allows to reach the desired result, it can go back to the point where it failed. After the implementation of the DMAIC methodology, the initial objectives were achieved, and it was possible to record the decrease in the number of deformed seat foam occurrences. The results obtained can be improved in the future, continuing the process of continuous daily improvement.
