Abstract(s)

Abstract Introduction: Knowledge management is a conscious method of defining, structuring, retaining, and sharing the learned, lived, and acquired experience. This report stems from the study "Health literacy about HIV/AIDS among secondary and vocational school teachers in the municipality of Tábua", as knowledge in this area is the main strategy for its prevention. Objectives: Evaluate the level of knowledge regarding HIV/AIDS prevention among secondary and vocational school teachers; Verify if there was an increase in the level of knowledge about HIV/AIDS prevention after an educational intervention. Methods: Quantitative, cross-sectional, descriptive-correlational study, with pre- and post-training intervention evaluation of knowledge about HIV/AIDS. Sample of 53 teachers (average age of 49.98±7.70 years). Socio-demographic and professional characterization questionnaire used along with the Health and Relationship Scale, translated and adapted (Chaves, 2007). Results: Teachers have an average score of 28.83±4.52, indicative of weak knowledge about HIV/AIDS. The teachers with higher knowledge of AIDS prevention, relevant for preventive behavior, were men aged 46-55, residing in urban areas, from the Professional School with a master's degree, as well as those with common beliefs among teachers. Women aged ≤45, residing in urban areas, stood out for incorrect defense of information about AIDS. Significant increase in knowledge among the 13 teachers evaluated after the intervention. Conclusion: The need for greater intervention in school health policies is evident, involving the entire educational community to enhance greater capacity for HIV/AIDS prevention, aiming at a healthy sexual health. Keywords: Human Immunodeficiency Virus; Literacy; Teachers; Community Nursing.
