- Intelligent Electric Vehicle Charging ControllerPublication . Gonçalves Cardoso, Filipe; Rosado, J.; Silva, Marco; Teixeira, C. J. Coelho; Agreira, C. I. Faustino; Caldeira, Filipe; Baptista, Pedro; Barreto, Francisco; Pereirinha, Paulo G.Abstract—For domestic consumers, electricity tariffs usually have two components: one is related to the maximum available current/total power (billed in C/day) and the other concerns to the energy consumption (C/kWh). The main switchboard current is usually limited, according to the contracted power level, by way of automatic switches. To avoid main switchboard tripping by current limit violation, Electric Vehicle (EV) owners may decide to increase their contracted power (and the energy bill) or to adopt charging strategies that limit the global consumption (EV plus house needs) to the contracted current/power. In this paper, an Intelligent Electric Vehicle Charging Controller (IEVCC), allowing to use the contracted power to the maximum extent, is presented. A set of user configurable parameters can be used to define the controller behavior, in order to prevent a full switch-off. Two versions are described: a single user version that can be used at private houses and a mesh version that can be used in multi apartment buildings, providing information about consumed energy, time of use, costs and past bills.

- A Importância Da Soldadura De Termoplásticos: Um Estudo De Comparação De Processos Com Caraterísticas DistintasPublication .
- Contribution of wine tourism by the implementation of an urban vineyard in a Portuguese Historic Hotel: Challenges, perspectives, and impactsPublication . Jordão, António; Barroco, Cristina; Gonçalves, TiagoWine tourism is essentially tourism in rural areas linked to wine and vineyards. However, the dissemination of viticultural heritage and wine culture with the aim of contributing to a greater connection between tourists and wine sector, even in urban environments, is an option that has been increasing in some countries. In fact, wine tourism involves a wide ecosystem of actors, which can include the hotels located in the center of the cities. In addition, inside of some cities, it could be possible for some hotels to implement small-scales vineyards. These places could represent an agricultural, historical, and cultural heritage with enormous value which could also be used for tourist purposes. Thus, the main goal of this work is to present the experience and the technical challenges during the implementation of an urban vineyard in a Portuguese Historic Hotel located in the center of the city of Viseu. In addition, the activities related with wine tourism centered on the urban vineyard are shown. The strategy for the recovery of green spaces and the hotel's communication policy are also presented and discussed.
- Industry 4.0 - Assessment of Digital Readiness of Manufacturing Companies in PortugalPublication . Guimarães, André; Reis, Pedro; Charrua-Santos, FernandoThe Portuguese industrial culture is going through some challenges and difficulties in the new phase of digitalization, using the development of several technologies that provide digital solutions aligned with Industry 4.0 (I4.0). To evaluate the digital readiness for I4.0 of industries companies, namely small, medium and large companies, a IMPULS model was used, which allowed quantifying and qualifying their level of readiness to implement I4.0 technologies, considering different dimensions and subdimensions. It is found that not all companies have the same pace and facility in adopting and implementing these technologies, where business strategies are not integrated with I4.0, resulting in the absence of an accurate selfassessment on the real maturity level achieved. Therefore, it is of great importance to understand how companies are facing different challenges and difficulties in the digital transition. This work aimed to assess the level of digital readiness to I4.0 of manufacturing companies in Portugal, in global and dimensional terms for each region. The overall assessment level is low (beginner) and the Smart Infrastructure and Data-driven Services dimensions are weak (outsider).

- Enhancing Organizational Data Integrity and Efficiency through Effective Data LineagePublication . Silva, Carlos; Abbasi, Maryam; Martins, Pedro; Silva, José; ANTUNES VAZ, PAULO JOAQUIM; Mota, DavidIn the era of exponential data growth and the growing reliance of organizations on data-driven decision-making, understanding the origin, transformation, processing, and destination of data has become crucial. Unfortunately, data arriving at organizations is often incorrect or structured differently, leading to analytical errors and compromising data integrity. Without well-documented data mapping and lineage, organizations risk making strategic decisions based on flawed or inaccurate data. Consequently, the implementation of a robust Data Lineage solution has emerged as a vital component for organizational success. Such a solution not only enables error identification, but also facilitates cost reduction by pinpointing inefficient data processing points and driving efficiency improvements. However, finding the right Data Lineage solution tailored to an organization’s specific requirements remains a challenge. Therefore, it is imperative to select and implement a suitable solution that aligns with each organization’s needs.

- Perception of the image of thermal spas in PortugalPublication . Teixeira, Francisca; Fassarela, Ana; Sousa, Alda; Costa, João Pedro; Antunes, JoaquimThe image of destinations is of great importance in the process of developing tourism for a location, acting not only as a way of differentiating itself from its potential competitors, but, mainly, as an attempt to provide economic support for the sustainable development of the destination (Chagas, 2009). The spa sector in Portugal assumes a growing importance in regions with low population density, where most of the resorts are located, as it is sometimes the main employer in the region (Hofer, et al. 2012; Costa & Antunes, 2022). Thus, the main objective of this study is to evaluate the determinants of the image of a thermal destination in Portugal, in order to improve or (re)position the image of the destination efficiently.
